Science Falsely So Called

Two of the most important warnings in Scripture to educated Americans in this Laodicean age would have to be found in Colossians 2:8 “philosophy”) and 1 Timothy 6:20 (“science falsely so called”). In an attempt to obliterate the warnings, all the corrupt English translations after 1611 change the pure words of God. Since the majority of Christians want to appear wise in this world, they go along with whatever modern science teaches, rather than face the ridicule that comes with rejecting it. Even though the false science of the American education system must constantly change its theories and admit error (this is supposed to be a noble thing), Christians continue to follow it as they reject the only Book that has never had to say “oops” in over 3,500 years.
“Moses was learned in all the wisdom of the Egyptians” (Acts 7:22), but he had to reject their philosophy, medical practices, and science in order to believe God and write the Scriptures. We have a medical record of the Egyptian learning of Moses’ day called the Ebers papyrus fragments that date to 1550 B.C. Moses had to appear a fool to the “wise” of his day to write the medical, astronomical, and scientific data found in Genesis through Deuteronomy. In some cases, it has taken over 3,000 years for mankind to catch up to this wisdom, and in some other cases, the world has still refused to believe it and, therefore, remains in the dark.
Two examples are found in Numbers 19:11–19 and Deuteronomy 23:12–13.
- ¶ He that toucheth the dead body of any man shall be unclean seven days.
- He shall purify himself with it on the third day, and on the seventh day he shall be clean: but if he purify not himself the third day, then the seventh day he shall not be clean.
- Whosoever toucheth the dead body of any man that is dead, and purifieth not himself, defileth the tabernacle of the LORD; and that soul shall be cut off from Israel: because the water of separation was not sprinkled upon him, he shall be unclean; his uncleanness is yet upon him.
- This is the law, when a man dieth in a tent: all that come into the tent, and all that is in the tent, shall be unclean seven days.
- And every open vessel, which hath no covering bound upon it, is unclean.
- And whosoever toucheth one that is slain with a sword in the open fields, or a dead body, or a bone of a man, or a grave, shall be unclean seven days.
- And for an unclean person they shall take of the ashes of the burnt heifer of purification for sin, and running water shall be put thereto in a vessel:
- And a clean person shall take hyssop, and dip it in the water, and sprinkle it upon the tent, and upon all the vessels, and upon the persons that were there, and upon him that touched a bone, or one slain, or one dead, or a grave:
- And the clean person shall sprinkle upon the unclean on the third day, and on the seventh day: and on the seventh day he shall purify himself, and wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and shall be clean at even.
- Thou shalt have a place also without the camp, whither thou shalt go forth abroad:
- And thou shalt have a paddle upon thy weapon; and it shall be, when thou wilt ease thyself abroad, thou shalt dig therewith, and shalt turn back and cover that which cometh from thee:
It wasn’t until the mid-1800s (A.D., that is!) that the medical community caught up with transmission of germs in the operating rooms, and there are still many places today where countries as a whole have refused the Bible and continue to spread cholera, typhoid, and dysentery (see Thailand and India, among others). Yet American school children are still taught today that those people have their own “holy book,” just like the Bible believers have their own. We can be thankful that Moses turned aside to see the burning bush and came into contact with the Holy God who reveals TRUTH! As if there is a similarity to the Egyptian god (Ra) who told them to spread worms’ blood on cuts, make plasters with cows’ dung, or feed cut up skinned mice to your sick infant (Ebers Papyrus of 1550 B.C.). You would actually equate this with the Lord God Almighty of the Holy Bible.
The standard answer to all of this by those educated in the American University system is that, “We have learned so much more since 1550 B.C.” This denies the fact that Moses’ writings were about the same time and he never put anything so ridiculous in his writings. You cannot point to a single verse in the 1500 B.C. writings of Moses that require revising, updating, or outright obsolescence. Why is that?
Now the sad thing about all of this is the typical “Christian” response. The so-called “Christian philosopher” Frances Schaeffer said, “The Bible is not a scientific textbook.” His quote was no different than the “lost philosopher” Francis Bacon who said, “There are two books of God, the book of God’s word and the book of His works. Do not unwisely mingle or confound these learnings together.” These ideas have been repeated in modern pulpits in the form of: “The Bible does not teach how the heavens go, but how to go to heaven.” Isn’t that a cute one? There is more true information about how the heavens go in Genesis, Psalms, Job, and Isaiah than you could find in every copy of National Geographic, Scientific American, Discover, Popular Science, and Astronomy Now combined.
The shepherd boy David, through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit of God, said,
- The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handiwork.
- Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge.
- There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard.
This tells us that in every dialect of this world, among six billion plus souls, they have a sermon preached to them that there is a Creator God. That means that we may confidently affirm that every paleontologist, biologist, philosopher, or scientist of any discipline that ever made themselves a “great name” in this world, started out knowing that all things in this universe were created by God. The fact that their writings deny this means nothing. Their braggadocio is merely hot air trying to cover up a lie. The motive of the whole scientific educational system of this world can be summed up as follows: steal the glory from God. Two whole chapters of the Bible deal with this subject in detail (Romans 1 and 1 Corinthians 1) as the Apostle Paul exposes the foundation of this world’s wisdom. Darwin, Einstein, Bacon, Leakey, Hawking, Sagan, Bryce, and thousands like them have all, at one time or another, made “Freudian” slips regarding this admission of guilt. Richard Leakey once revealed the sandy foundation of his evolutionary studies thus: “If you brought in a smart scientist from another discipline and showed him the meager evidence we’ve got, he’d say, ‘Forget it, there isn’t enough to go on.’” Does that stop Leakey and friends? Of course not. They run through the fog of evolutionary charts and falsely so-called science like a child at Disney-world. Recently, when some “dinosaur” soft tissue was found, the paleontology “experts” refused to admit it into their evidence since it would be quite a stretch to say that you could have 60–100-million year-old soft tissue still around today. When one of the “experts” was asked what it would take for him to admit to this evidence, he simply denied it could be true, period.
This is the kind of science about which Paul warned Christians, yet so many continue to apologize for the Bible’s science of a six-thousand year old history of mankind and animals. With the great desire to fit into the worldwide conspiracy (2 Cor. 4:4), man-fearing preachers bow at the altar of “education,” more properly labeled, “science falsely so called.” Rather than bow to them, allow me to quote the common-sense humorist Will Rogers, who once said, “A scientist is a man who can find out anything, and nobody in the world has any of proving whether he found it out or not, and the more things he can think of that nobody can find out about, the bigger the scientist he is.”
One of the more obvious problems for the false science of evolution is the study of the human population growth charts. Since finding Lucy’s bones in Africa and “proving” her to be at least three million years old, anthropologists must explain why our population today is only six billion. I realize that the number three million seems like nothing compared to the billions of years that the evolutionists throw around in their writings, but the student needs to carefully consider this number. If the human species has been around for three million years, where is the population chart explaining how we got where we are right now from Lucy and her husband? There are none because every anthropologist recognizes the problem. This earth could not support the numbers a time span like that would have yielded. A University textbook gives us the explanation: “The ancestral population of the present human species must have remained relatively small for many thousands of years.” Did you mean “hundreds of thousands of years?” What happened to their eagerness to throw around the big numbers? The student is supposed to believe that Lucy and her kinfolk were smart enough to use tools, but unable to figure out how to reproduce. The textbook goes on to chronicle the slow advances of “plant cultivation, domestication of animals, and the transition from a paleolithic to a neolithic culture that brought on economic advantages,” but those are just diversions to get the student away from thinking about the real problem.
The Bible believer can produce a factual chart of the human population growth from a man and a woman in a garden approximately six thousand years ago (Gen. 2:8). After about 1,700 years of growth, it was reduced to only eight people (1 Pet. 3:20) around 2348 B.C. and started over again. We have no need to fog the student’s brain with talk about “Neolithic, Paleolithic, Bronze, Iron,” or any other age. The present day population of the world supports the Scriptural chronology and cannot support the false science of evolutionary figures.
Not only that, evidence all over the world screams of a worldwide flood some four thousand years ago, as well as physical evidence that consistently points to a young earth. But since when have falsely-so-called scientists wanted to deal with evidence? As the evolutionary reviewer once said when asked about what data would it take to convince him that he was wrong: “None.”
As these last days of the Church Age draw to a close, every young man called to preach the Holy Scriptures must stand against the falsely-so-called science of his day and resist the temptation to appear wise in this world. The Bible believing preacher needs to consistently remind himself of the Lord’s opinion of the world’s wisdom. Since “the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe” (1 Cor. 1:21). Instead, the Lord chose us, the foolish, weak, base, and despised things, to confound them, “that no flesh should glory in his presence” (1 Cor. 1:29).
